Easter Cycle SafetyAll of our 3rd class pupils are really en-joying their Cycle Safety Classes, which will run weekly until June. The classes are delivered in a fun way by the excellent tutors. Cycle Safety is so important for our chil-dren and we encourage families to support and help enforce what the children learn in these classes when they are out cycling, particularly now as Spring is here and children will be out on their bikes much more as we now have the brighter days. This year all were transported back to 1960’s America in a colourful and energetic production of ‘Hairspray’. The audiences were thoroughly entertained by the wonderful acting and singing. The students also designed the set, sourced costumes and props, all of which added to the spectacle. A very capable PR team ran ‘front of house’ and refreshments. Transition Year students also completed their end of year interviews. During these interviews the students have the opportu-nity to showcase various projects, activi-ties and assignments completed through-out their very busy year. The interviews form part of the assessment process which dovetails with academic results, project analysis and work experience feedback. All are combined to contribute to their certification which is awarded when they graduate on 16th May.During the month the school’s mock trial team competed in the annual National Mock Trial Competition. The competition is organised by Public Access to Law and takes place in the Criminal Courts of Jus-tice. It provides a valuable opportunity for students to participate in a simulated trial in a real courtroom which is overseen by the judiciary. Participating in the compe-tition gives a taster to those interested in taking up a career in the legal profession. This month the school celebrated Inter-cultural week.
