< Previous© January 2019 The Meath Coaster30Coláiste na hInsena hInse. Written by Aoife Cronin, Emily Healy and Alison McGrath, “she.” was di-rected by Emily Healy and produced by Sinéad Berrill as part of the Lady Gregory Project. The drama set out to make the audience question their judgment and to provoke a discussion. With hugely im-pressive performances from the cast, it certainly succeeded in its objective. Con-gratulations to all involved.Christmas sa ColáisteThe huge crowds at the annual Christmas sa Coláiste enjoyed a range of Christmas classics from dáltaí past and present. High-lights on the night included a wonderful rendition of “All I want for Christmas”, as well as a medley of songs from the forth-coming musical, We Will Rock You.Boys’ Basketball Teams Reach League FinalWe had a very successful U16 and U19 boys’ basketball campaign this year with both teams getting to the North East Fi-nal. These finals were played on the 6th of December in The Phoenix Leisure Centre in Carrickmacross, and the opponents for both games was Castleblaney College.Congratulations to the CNI Under 19 Boys’ team on triumphing in their league final against Castleblaney. Despite a slow start that saw them seven points down at the end of the first quarter, the team showed tremendous resolve and spirit to slowly reduce and overturn the deficit. The Under 16 team were unfortunate to be narrowly defeated in their final. With the match tied at half-time, Castleblaney pulled away from CNI in the third quar-ter and held on to win the league. As with Tickets on Sale Now for We Will Rock YouTickets are now on sale for this year’s musical, We Will Rock You. The show will run for four nights from Wednesday, January 16th, to Saturday, January 19th. Tickets are available to purchase in An Grianán or on Event Brite. Over 1,400 people attended Billy Elliot last year, and We Will Rock You is already on course to pass this figure. See the school website for more details. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please contact Mái-stir McCabe at cmccabe.cni@lmetb.ie for more details.Original Production of “she.” per-formed to huge crowdsOver two hundred people attended the original production of “she.” in Coláiste © January 2019 The Meath Coaster31 Continued over....the Under 19s, the squad had offered full commitment since the beginning of the year, and were unlucky to lose on the day.For the first time this year this competi-tion goes onto an All-Ireland series, so our U19 boys will be facing Mountmel-lick of Laois on the 16th of January in a bid to a have a place in the All Ireland Final on the 1st of February in the National Bas-ketball arena. Well done to both teams on their massive commitment and work ethic shown this year.Students Donate Generously to Saint Vincent de Paul Hamper AppealWe would like to say thank the students and teachers for bringing in food for the Saint Vincent de Paul hamper appeal. He was said to have two heads, one looking forward to the new other looking back at the old. I reckon having two heads would be, if not an advantage, definitely interesting. You would be able to argue both sides of an argument with yourself to your hearts content. I think I do this at times anyway but it might be more objective with two separate heads. You would have twice the brain power but while one head would be sure to want to sort out life’s issues, the other is almost certain to be the ‘C’mon let’s go for a drink and sort it out later’ variety. Jumpers would be an issue, as would any clothing that you pull on over your head(s), but you would be able to get a complete look at your outfit without having to ask if your bum looked big in it. The answer to that question has changed to yes! by the way. Big butts are very much in fashion but in order to save a row, do furtively check to see which answer is required first- it might just save your life. Of course, if the askee had two heads, its not even an issue! Two heads would solve the issue of chatting to someone and being on the phone at the same time. Lots of people try it (with just the one head) and fail. In my experience Oasis Childcare Centre Mornington Co. I’m speaking as the victim and the perpetrator of this modern-day crime, but if I’m honest I’m usually the criminal. Employers would love a two headed em-ployee. No stopping for lunch, back to back shifts, and only one salary. Since there is an abundance of great T.V series at the moment, I could make good use of a second head to watch the ridiculous num-ber of programs I have recorded and will realistically never watch.I’m not sure how Janus felt about his two heads. He was a God so probably didn’t do many interviews, and possibly would have contradicted himself anyway. One of his heads faced the past. While the past can be a very attractive place to go, full of fuzzy memories, wit-ty stories and heroic deeds that possibly weren’t so in reality, it’s probably not the place you would want to spend too much time. Far better to look to the future, which is where is other head faces, and is real-ly what January is all about. Facing the year ahead with all the challenges and sur-prises it contains.Janus was a Roman God with no parents and no Greek equivalent. We are told he guards the future and the past but what if he was as conflicted about life as the rest of us? What if he’s not looking back and for-ward but side to side? I’ll leave you with that thought, and all the best for 2019. §HOUSEHOLD SERVICESBG PAINTING & DECORATINGInterIor & exterIor25 YEARS EXPERIENCE REFERENCES AVAILABLEFREE CONSULTATIONS & ESTIMATESWALLPAPER ALSO AVAILABLEContact Brian 086 7308449Call Nicky - 041 9887128 087 7734344 A Local BusinessCosmic Cleanwww.cosmicclean.ieT&Cs & Minimum Charge appliesMAJOR DISCOUNTS for Multiple RoomsRug Collection & Delivery Service AvailableProfessional Carpet & Upholstery CleaningSPECIAL OFFER!Noel SavageElectrical Services20 Years Experience • Security LightingFuseboard Upgrades • Rewires, Extra Sockets • Lights, Fully Insured and RegisteredNo Job Too SmallBettystown, Co. The truth, as we all know, is it is certain to happen! This begs the question who is re-sponsible for safeguarding my data? The answer is simple: You are. In this accidental digital world we live in you must take action and the time neces-sary to protect and safeguard you data as far as is humanly possible. The consequences of ignoring it are you are likely to lose it or suffer the conse-quences of it being hacked. Over the next few articles I will outline data profiles and some steps you can take to safeguard it What Is My Data?Start with the question “what is my data?” and you are on the road to safeguarding it. The average person’s data is spread across multiple devices, networks, computers, and held by many institutions. When it comes to locations outside your control the most important element is to maintain a duplicate, where possible, of what they hold. To help those confused by that the following is a list of data, more will follow in the next articles:Financial and Insurance recordsAccount numbers, passwords, policy numbers, access passwords, balances etc. Action Required: Ensure you have paper and digital copies of this information in a secured location such a home safe or other hidden location.Your local digital copy should be, at a minimum, stored in a file which is pass-word protected and where possible en-crypted. A usb flash drive that can be hidden is a good idea as a storage loca-tion. Financial Access passwords: Change your passwords frequently where possi-ble and NEVER use the same password on more than one site or app. Record previously used passwords and do NOT re-use them. If your financial institution offers double authentication use it. Double authentica-tion is where the website sends a code to your phone which you must use in com-bination with your password and login information to login. In my next article I will continue on this topic.
