Hence no local race start line was without an orange Cilles singlet! First up was the Portmarnock 5-mile Race where Eloise Cowie secured a third in cat- egory win. On a point gathering expedi- tion Derek Butler, Grainne Ward, Claire Purtill and Fiona Mullan travelled to Tara and embraced the hills of the 5k road race on August 30 th . Boyne AC held their annual 5k on the 1 st of September in Drogheda. Cilles AC was represented by no less than 42 members on the day! Mairead Murphy ran with ex- cellent form securing 1 st in her category and helping the ladies’ team place third. The men’s team excelled themselves win- ning the first team prize! Well done An- thony, Ronan, Conor and Paul! Some of our more hardcore members headed to Lough Sheelin for the 16 Mile challenge. Yes, Derek Butler, Paul Flana- gan, Grainne Ward and Sharon Rothwell, you guys are tough out – no shying away from a challenge there! We are very proud of our Cilles Ladies who took part in North East Dip in the Nip in aid of Necret. They raised a massive amount of €3,572 and offer a big thank you to everyone in the community who supported them. The last race on the league calendar was the Ratoath Half Marathon and 5k. Club members used this as not only a race to se- cure league points but to hone their racing skills before the Dublin City Marathon. There were many notable PBs including fast races from Alan Mulligan, Ciara Leni- han, Donal Harrington, Caroline Conroy, Susan Kielty, Nicole Ludden, Olivia Ben- nett and Fiona Mullan. Aaron was the 2 nd Irishman home in a very competitive field. Anthony Lannon took the prize for Male Athlete of the year with Lauren Murphy taking the female honours. Grainne Ward was ‘Runners Choice’ for 2019. Grainne’s race times have improved spectacularly, and she has inspired us all by her hard work and de- termination to get things done! The club league team winners ‘Happy Feet@ lived up to their name by dancing the night away!y! § Autumn in the Julianstown Village Garden with amazing red berries from our native bush - the Guelder Rose© October 2019 The Meath Coaster 52 Laytown United SFC www.laytownunitedsfc.com / www.facebook.com/LaytownUnitedSFC A t the end of August we took our 5 th trip in 18 months over to LLS - Your Tour Head quarters in Liverpool, this time it was the turn of the U12s, as always the LLS guys had everything covered, from training sessions with Liverpool F.C and Everton F.C Academy coaches to front row seats for the Burnley v Liverpool F.C match, it was all taken care of. This group is the youngest group of play- ers we've taken away so far but there was no need to be worried because they be- haved impeccably throughout and were a credit to themselves and the club. A huge thank you to Lorraine once again for all the work behind the scenes to en- able the trip to take place in the first place, and a big thanks to coaches Jimmy, John, Damien, Dave R, Dave C, Alan and the parents who accompanied the boys and helped them make special memories that will last a lifetime. On 1 st November we will be taking on the Kube for the second time and judging by the success of the launch night, this year is going to be bigger and better than last time. Our MC for the night Jon really made a huge impression on the contestants at the © October 2019 The Meath Coaster 53 launch night, he had us all in fits of laugh- ter, and he promised us that was just for starters and the main event would be even funnier and there will be no holds barred!! Club news T he new season is in full swing and we are delighted with how it's going so far. The kids are delighted to be back play- ing matches and we wish all our teams a brilliant season. We are enjoying the last couple of training sessions outside before we go indoor training for the Winter. Our Monday afternoon and Saturday morning academy have started back up and it's brilliant to see so many enthusi- astic little faces each week. The future of soccer is bright in Stamullen. Girls friendship cup. We had our third annual friendship cup on the 25 th August, in Gormanston Park and it was our biggest one yet! It was an amazing day with over 30 teams from all over the county and beyond from ages 8 up to under 17 taking part. We had great fun with bouncy castles, an inflatable pitch, refreshments and ice cream stand. There was so many talented footballers and everyone went home with a medal and a smile. We are already planning next years event. Junior A final Sunday the 22 nd of Septem- ber it only took our senior ladies 3 days to bounce back and beat Moynalvey on a score line of 6-13 to 4-8 to book there place in this year’s League Final! Ladies Under 15’’S win 3 out 3 in their league with some great displays, Mark Burns u13’s have got off to a wining start and it is all very positive too for new mentors on the block Maurice Hackett & Aaron Cos- tello as their under 13’s had a very impres- sive win in their 1 st division 1 outing. Under 11’s also continue to impress so thanks so much to all the mentors in- volved here and all the hard work that is been done to ensure that there is an end- less Stream of girls coming through to the older grades Pats Ogs This is on a Saturday morning from 9:15am to 9:45am for 3 – 4 year olds and from 10:00am to 10:45am for 4-6 year olds, we already have over 80 little people B League Senior Team 7 th September the lads played the quarter final play off against Duleek/Bellewstown and won in fine style St.Pats 3-19 Duleek/ Bellewstown 0-10. The team are now into the Quarter final against Boardsmill which will take place on the 29 th of Sep- tember so best of luck lads. Everyone had great fun on the day and we cannot thank our sponsors and the people who supported the club on the day enough. Our County We had a great day in Croke Pack to cheer on Emma white and the Meath team in the All- Ireland final on Septem- ber 15 th , over 100 kids and two buses set sail to the hallow ground to cheer our heroes on! Bingo News The bingo in the club- house is proving to be a great success. There is great atmosphere and prizes to be won and everyone, young and old is welcome. Bingo every Sunday in the St.Pat’s Clubhouse at 8pm. Halloween Camp We are holding a camp for boys and girls aged 5-12 from 10am-2pm. First child is €30, second €25 and third child is €20.
