Lots of planning, creativity and skill went into delivering a fun packed trick or treat day for students and staff with live mu- sic provided by DIFEs own Culinary Arts Level 5 student, Martina O'Brien Wynne. All proceeds on the day were for a local SVP. The Culinary Arts students raised a fantastic €628 and the cheque was pre- sented to two members of SVP, Deirdre and Joe, with their teacher Yvonne Wynne. The money raised will help families in need this Christmas time. An extraordinary amount of planning and prep went in behind the scenes in order for the event to take place, and thankfully on the night nobody was disappointed, the atmosphere in the room was electric and everyone had an amazing night. Most importantly we raised much needed funds for our club. Fundraising is a massive necessity for all voluntary organisations and we are no ex- ception, although we collect Registration fees and weekly subs it doesn't come close to cover the amount of outgoings we have and that is why events such as this are so important to aid the running of the club. In the past 18 months alone money raised through fundraising has enabled us to: Pay for 39 coaching courses for our dedicated coaches, this ensures that we are provid- ing the best level of coaching we can to our players. We were able to carry out a huge amount of essential maintenance work in Seafield both on the pitches and in the surrounding areas, clearing rub- bish and debris, including the old disused container. Lots of over grown grass and bushes were cut back which opened up the spaces available to both ourselves and other local clubs like Cilles Athletics. We purchased paint for the clubhouse. Win- ter training costs in the all weather were © December 2019 The Meath Coaster 57 subsidised, grass cutting costs and pitches were maintained to exceptional standards. New training equipment was purchased, plus an endless supply of balls!! So as you can see without fundraising our club would not run as smoothly as it does. We would like to sincerely thank each and every business and individual who sup- ported the Kube and enabled us to raise essential funds which will be vital to us on the coming months . We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at the Kube and were delighted to able to present our two longest serving members with a token of appreciation for all their hard work and dedication to the club for the past decade. Director of Football Dave Conroy and Chairman Shay O'Donoghue thank you for all you have done so far. § Photo of a local swim tribe at sunrise by Paula Pryor© December 2019 The Meath Coaster 58 C2 General Stamullen F.C. Club news A ll the boys and girls teams are back playing and enjoying matches and training and taking full advantage of our new club beanie hats to keep us warm in the cooler weather. The season is going great for all teams and its fantastic to see all our players out on the pitches from the Academies all the way up to our seniors and over 35s. Update on girls trip – As promised here is our write up on the u14 and u17 girls fantastic trip. Earlier this year as coaches we decided it would be a great opportunity to bring two of the girls teams u17s and u14s across the water to England for training and a match .We decided on Norwich City FC as their new facilities in The Nest looked great. © December 2019 The Meath Coaster 59 So over the summer we held fundrais- ers like bag packing, a disco and a quiz night and they were a great success . Oc- tober came around so quickly and it was off to Stansted we flew and got a coach to Norwich and did a tour of NC stadium to see and hear all the history of the club and learning their songs to sing and taking loads of pics. We then went on to The Nest academy . The girls were set up in dormitories, got unpacked and got ready for their first training session with the pros . They loved it and the girls were eager to impress. The coaches were brilliant and it was nice to see and hear a different voice give instruc- tions. In the evening time we had so many facilities to entertain us all, from fussball , pool tables, ping pong, play stations, Ka- raoke and board games to play. Everyone was mixing of all ages and it was so nice to see everyone getting on and having fun. On Saturday we had another great training session and in the afternoon we all went out to go see the sites, do a bit of shop- ping, we also brought the girls to Gravity ( like jump zone ), that was so much fun and an Italian meal afterwards. On Sunday was our big match day. It was a big test for the girls, so they had to bring everything against a very strong opposition, so a loss and a draw is not a bad result at all and Next >
