< Previous© November 2018 The Meath Coaster60Semi Finals – 06/07 April 2019 - National Finals – 11/12 May 2019. Skechers are again the competition’s main sponsor, for their continued support of the biggest cup competition in the country. Representing East Meath United will be our U12 Prem Devils, U13A Panthers & U14 Prem Gal-axy all both in the North Leinster region. First up in the second round seen our Dev-ils with home advance in action against Balbriggan, with the away side been the better team winning on a scoreline of 4-3. While our Panthers made the away trip to Swords Manor B but came away with a 2-1 loss. For Galaxy where away to Rock Celtic & came away victorious 4-3. In Rd3 Galaxy will have home advantage against Cloughertown FC with an update on this result can be found on our social media pages.NDSL UpdatesSince our last report on how all are doing in their respectful leagues positions we have seen some changes, with cup action taken place in both NDSL & Sketchers, others have seen them play more of their games in bringing their own season to a close. 9 a-side football our Panthers U12 A since September & into October have seen them drop pts & a drop to 4th in the table with 2 home games remaining hopefully they can gain some confidence and finish in the top 3. Our Devils in U12 seen their con-tinuous winning run come to an end with a score draw against a dogged Malahide but remain on course to compete the double & go undefeated all season. 3 away games remain & one pt needed to win the league & hopefully that will come against Bohs next. For Devils on the back of their cup triumph over Willows they made the visit to Dunboyne & another 3-1 win & a great record overall. In U12D Blue their six game winning run came to an end beaten at home to Baldoyle 3-5, they now sit in second spot 2pts begins leaders Marino on the back of a 5-0 win over Malahide.11 a-side football U13 Prem Galaxy where crowned CHAMPIONS again after de-feating Rush 7-1 away in a top of the table clash even with seven games remaining, the question now is another Invincible's season on the cards ? U13D Tigers sit joint top with Kilmore but played two games more, but have yet to play them twice in the coming weeks so all to play for here. U14B have finished their season thanks to the coaches & players. U16 Prem the boys have 5 games remaining whilst sitting in 4th spot, realistically not enough to topple the top two. U16B with 9 games left have had more than a challenging season but hope to see the season out gaining more pts on the board. Coaches Corner Success v DevelopmentA recurring challenge or dilemma for every coach at grass roots level is the question 'do I sacrifice the development of my players in return for more instant success ?' The achievements of teams and their coaches are so often measured in the amount of victories racked up and ulti-mately the winning of trophies. Many peo-ple mistake success and excellence for the same thing when in fact they're quite dif-ferent things altogether. Success is tempo-rary, often fleeting and sometimes papers over the cracks. Excellence is achieved gradually, you have to work for it and earn it. Excellence is lasting and permanent © November 2018 The Meath Coaster61and by achieving excellence you'll most likely be successful. At EMU we encour-age our coaches to focus hard on teaching the fundamentals to our youngest players. Never before has it made more sense to place the emphasis on developing kids as the trophies have been removed from the small sided games. Twin format 5-a-side matches mean more inclusion, more game time, more touches for every player so naturally there's an environment where everyone can develop.Training sessions are tailored to be fun while kids learn basic skills like control, touch and passing tech-niques. Body shape, footwork and agility all go towards offering the child the tools to go on and become a competent player at whatever level they ultimately arrive at. Since first becoming a coach at EMU's Academy seven years ago we've been for-tunate enough to have coaches like Dam-ien and Stephen now with U13's. Anto, Paul and Robert now U12's managers. Paudi, Sinead and Derek are all involved with these groups too while continuing to work with our Academy. Interestingly all these teams are competing at the top end of their respective leagues, their coaches have guided the teams into competitive action having done the groundwork in the formative years. It's the belief at EMU that if all our coaches follow the model set out by the club and that followed by the folks mentioned above then excel-lence will be achieved. With a little bit of luck, plenty of hard work and the support of parents then success has every chance of following.Devils Nearly ThereWith just 3 games remaining in their U12B NDSL our EMU Devils are on the verge of completing their “League & Cup” double to equal that of our U13 Gal-axy team who have been crowned League Champions on top of their recent NDSL Cup final success over Killegland. Devils have put in some great performances this season, though not all has gone to plan at times. Well drilled by their coaches Paul Bacon & Sinead McDonnell so far have seen them win all their games bar one which seen them held to a score draw by Malahide. At the time of going to print they are 1 pt away from lifting the title after a comfort-able win over Dunboyne in which Danny Bacon came out trumps with a sterling performance giving him the MOTM award. He was presented & pictured with the Devils MOTM new Trophy which has been kindly sponsored by Gareth McDon-nell our club PROMEDIA & photogra-pher & a volunteer in our club. Well done Danny on been the first recipient. §© November 2018 The Meath Coaster62Laytown United SFCwww.laytownunitedsfc.com / www.facebook.com/LaytownUnitedSFCA huge thanks to everybody who sup-ported our fundraising event The Kube in the City North Hotel on 26th Octo-ber.
