Both teams produced organised and passing football which was probably the best on show according to one of the referees. Both teams competed against teams Muirhevnamor, Woodview Celtic, Bay Utd & Glenmuir Utd. Every emotion was on show both from parents and kids. There were tears, joy and celebrations. The Tornadoes won a nerve tingling Semi Final penalty shoot out but unfortunately lost marginally in an amazing final. Whilst our U8’s to U11’s in “non competitive” football are doing very well in their own matches whether home or away & great to see them participate in fun filled action. Special mention to all our “volunteer coaches” who give up their time to train their teams in preparation for their upcoming matches. They use their talents to coach the games fundamentals as well as the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity & respect for all. Keep up the great work.Soccer Saturday “The Academy”Our Academy is going from strength to strength every Saturday morning where both boys & girls attend from 9:30/10:30am. Ages from 5 to 7 who desire to participate with other children without following the recreational team formation rules. The purpose of the Acad-emy is simple at EMU “to provide rec-reational players who have aspirations of becoming a more accomplished player an avenue to test and enhance his or her skills whilst providing recreational play-ers an opportunity to train with experi-enced coaches with the level of play with which they are comfortable with”. While in the Academy there are no teams, and there is no league play. The approach of the Academy program is lets say a “Fes-tival" type training environment, where all children train together, and then par-ticipate in game play at the end of the training session. The Academy does not select or exclude players whilst enrolment is open to any child that meets the age re-quirements, wants to learn soccer the right way and of course & wants to have fun while they're doing it. Trainer-to-player ratio is top priority within EMU Acad-emy. Individual attention to each player boosts development. Small-sided games © July 2018 The Meath Coaster56give each player maximum touches on the ball. One-on-one soccer training gives the player confidence to use these skills in simulated game situations. Having fun in a pressure-free environment makes play-ers that love the game for life. Academy coaches will focus on development now & winning later.Even when others focus on team winning more than an individual child’s develop-ment, EMU stick’s by the right way and develop the individual. The age to devel-op the individual and learn is most impor-tant in our Academy. The main objective of the Academy is to promote and emphasise the technical abil-ities of young soccer players; at this age mainly Dribbling Skills or Ball Mastery. What to see more then pop down to Min-nistown where our friendly coaches will be there to greet you.Getting involved In EMU,… How ?“A stone is broken by the last stroke of hammer, this does not mean that the 1st stroke is useless”, success is the result of continuous effort. We are always looking for new coaches & volunteers so if you are interested contact us on facebook @eastmeathunitedfc or drop into **Min-© July 2018 The Meath Coaster57nistown** & talk to one of our coaches any evening or weekend. There is no experience needed as EMU will provide you with all the coaching courses & ad-vice needed. For example our Academy, having fun in a pressure free environ-ment makes not just the players but the coaches & volunteers love the game for life. EMU will assist & equip you with all the resources necessary to coach the sport, share life lessons & coach your team. Re-member we all had to start somewhere so its never too late to get on board. ** Min-nistown 53.682124, -6.258189A little something for all to think about,……Coming to Minnistown to see your child play can be nerve racking for some par-ents, some like to get involved too, whilst others are happy to stand back and enjoy the game. Sidelines should be encouraged to applaud good football to both sides, without the "call-out" allowing the players to think for themselves. Your kids are in great hands, our experi-enced coaches or "volunteers" give up their time night after night, week-end after weekend to train their teams in preparation for their upcoming matches. Some-times it can be a thankless job but we never give in. Whilst in Minnis-town or away everyone single one of us show 'Respect' 'Ambition' 'Effort' 'Team-work' 'Humility' our core values at East Meath United, our success is down to the continuous effort that is set by all. We ask you to stand well back behind the line and give both the coaches & players a chance.RIP John DonohoeWith it with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mr. John Donohoe, the father of our Chairperson Sharon Tolan, who sadly passed away on June 7th peace-fully at his home. East Meath United offer their condolences at this sad time to his wife Breda, daughters Louise, Marion & Sharon, brother Thomas, grandchildren, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. As a mark of respect a min-utes applaud was given in Minnistown by all teams, officials & supporters in mem-ory of John. For anybody who missed the AGM, it was an emotional night as Mark has played a huge role in the clubs devel-opment over the last 10 years and he has achieved so much in a relatively short period of time. Anyone who knows or has worked alongside Mark will not be surprised by how much he achieved as it was this drive and positive can do attitude that made him a wonderful committee member and in more recent times chairman of DCFC. Academy from Belfast to Castlemartin. The Crusaders Academy played two matches against a mixture of players from all three of our U12 teams. There was some fantastic football on display during both matches which were run side by side and there was a fantastic atmosphere around a sunny Castlemartin on the day. The Crusaders sent us a lovely message afterwards to say how Much they had enjoyed their trip. Both Clubs hope to strike a lasting relationship and return fixtures could be on the cards very soon. Well done to all the coaches involved who organized the event. Goalkeeper TrainingThe Club would like to say thank you to our Goalkeeping Coach Steve Gamble who has given up a massive amount of time to provide essential Goal Keeper coaching to our up and coming Goal Keepers. The lads have been training hard since February and held a small award ceremony at their last session before the summer break to recognize the hard work and efforts of the boys. Both Jude Woods and Aaron Potter were awarded on the night for being most improved and showing great leadership skills. Well done lads.Crusaders F.C. AcademyNext >
