They’ll take place over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of April and always provide a flash of colour and high-speed excitement in the village. They always welcome volunteers for steward-ing, just contact any club member. Good luck to our local team.Johnny McQuillan and family are host-ing a Cake Sale in aid of Make a Wish af-ter 6p.m. Mass on Saturday 1st April and 10a.m. Mass on Sunday 2nd in the Parish Rooms (probably too late for some read-ers). Donations of cakes can be dropped off from 2p.m. on Saturday. All support is welcome.Lámha Beaga Montessori is hosting an on-line safety seminar in June discussing is-sues like online gaming, digital footprint, and cyber-bullying. Open to all, €5. Details from Danny at 087-2454982.Bishop Smith recently presided at the canonical establishment of Silverstream Priory, the first new monastery in Meath since the suppression of the monasteries by Henry VIII in 1536. The monastery in the former convent of Visitation Sisters is now home to eight monks who follow the rule of Saint Benedict. The commu-nity hails from Tulsa in the U.S. and they moved to Stamullen in 2012.Congratulations to Maureen Andrews who recently ran the annual poker classic in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs in Whyte’s pub. She raised €1,000 for the Balbriggan branch of this vital charity. Training one dog costs €38,000 but can transform a life.Well done to Stamullen N.S. for their al-ways vibrant St. Patrick’s Day parade, great to see everybody celebrating the day. Con-gratulations also to our local Scout Group. 20th Meath, who joined in the Balbriggan parade on the 17th. The room was buzzing from the moment the staff opened the doors. With 20 ex-hibitors showcasing their products and services, a host of industry expects on hand to answer any questions you had, the Credit Union launching their new Home Improvement Loan and of course the star of the show, Neville Knott as host.
