MeathT: 086 1731739 E: pro.stpatricksmeath@gmail.comThis of course also means our launch night will also be moved, and will now take place in Whytes on October 21st. Any tickets already sold for the event before the date change will still be valid. Re-member, the new date for the boxing is November 17th. We can’t wait to see you all there.HurlingOur awesome under 7’s do it again: What a gallant performance from our awesome under 7’s hurling squad today, as they made what should’ve been a mammoth task look like a training session against a very strong opponent. It was our turn to accommodate our good friends in sport, Donaghmore/AsbourneEach and every St Pat’s player covered every blade of grass with a rarely seen fire running through their blood. There was never going to be a chance for their opponents to recover or catch up, the per-formances in our defence matched by the performance up front and guided by the great keepers of the St Pats under 7’s is a true testament to the development of hurl-ing in the club. To say the opponents had what can only be described as a ‘shell shocked’ look on their face as they could not believe how well we have come on since the last time we played them. Can we take this oppor-tunity to thank Ger Moran (Ava’s Dad) for stepping in to ref a match on the day. From your very proud under 7’s coaching teamWhite Collar boxingSome big news regarding our white-collar boxing night. Due to the senior footballers continued participation in the senior football championship and a num-ber of other people unable to take part on that date who were otherwise willing to box, we have decided to change the date of the white-collar boxing night. This will allow for more of the football-ers to fully take part in training and give others a chance to take part too. This only means our night will be even bigger and better and with all the extra training our current boxers will be doing it means the fights will be more exciting. The big night will now be on November 17th. Nov17th Naomh Padraig GAA© October 2017 The Meath Coaster51U8 HurlersWell done to U8 hurlers who played against Trim on Saturday Morning. Midfield – Kevin Lenihan & Sam Geraghty. Forwards – Connor Barron, Rory Brennan, Cian Reil-ly, Thomas BranganThe lads were narrowly beaten away to Trim but it was a great effort and well done to all. As you know we had great success in our local schools last year with White-cross National school winning the Cooney Cup and Cumann Na mBunscol finals and to St Patricks National school winning the Corn Cois Farraige. We hope to build on that success this year with even more parents and coaches help-ing with taking training sessions. Our training program is due to start again in the first week of October with St Patricks training on Tuesday and Thursday and Whitecross on a Wednesday. Training will take place in our GAA club and we hope to have as many volunteers as possible. If you are interested you can get in contact with us by commenting on this post or call-ing down to the clubhouse and asking for Gavin Kirby or Ryan McCluskey. St.Pats 9-15 St.Peters Dunboyne 0-03U14 FootballHard luck to our U14s boys team who lost their semi-final against Round Towers this eve by a single score, 4-05 v 3-11. The boys never gave up and fought right un-til the end with Ross Castaldi particularly impressive scoring 3 goals.U13 FootballIn what proved to be a highly entertaining and tense game, St. Pats continued their winning run to top Division 2 of the U13 league. Goals from Sean Emmanuel, Jamie Murphy, Sean Hackett and Adam Kirby proving crucial to the final outcome. Man of the match, John Mannion, controlled the game in midfield to help his tired team over the line as nearly all of them had played an U14 cup game less than 24 hours before.St. Pats 6-14 v 1-05 St. CuthbertsSt. Pats U13s continued their remarkable march © October 2017 The Meath Coaster53towards a Division 2 league final with a comprehensive win over St. Cuthberts. Sean Emmanuel and John Mannion con-trolled midfield from start to finish and this provided the platform for a fine vic-tory. The defence remained solid through-out and goalkeeper Oisin Black even had time to snatch two goals in a 10 min cam-eo up front for the hosts. The team will play Navan O’Mahonys away next in a tough encounter.U10 FootballThe Under 10s resumed their Go Games campaign after the summer break with a great display against Simonstown at home. U10s train every Wednesday evening from 6.30-7.45pm. The squad have wel-comed a couple of new players in the last fortnight and with an emphasis on fun, skill and development, new players are always welcome - even if they’ve never played Gaelic games before. Each week we have weekly Skills Chal-lenge and Player of the Week winners which will encourage our players to de-velop their skills.Pat’s Ogs We are very excited to have Pats Og back on Saturdays and it again it promises to be great fun for everyone involved. The Northeast 'Dip in the Nip now in its 6th year is proving to be the biggest single fundraiser for the Oncology Unit and is run Voluntarily by Karen Healy and Elizabeth Summersby. A couple of hundred (257) brave women ran naked into freezing cold Irish sea so as to raise much needed funds for the Northeast Oncology & Haematology Unit based in Drogheda. The day started before dawn in the Westcourt Hotel with women from as far away as Derry and Belfast, and with ages ranging from 18 to 80 the dippers were a mix of mothers, daughters, sisters and friends, Some wore wigs and had their bodies adorned with all kinds of body art and we even had a few mad unicorns, It takes a lot of guts to do a fun-draiser like ours and all our ladies are just so brave. After the cold water dip and on the beach a most welcome hot food beagle bar breakfast was served to the now eu-phoric ladies.A day like ours is solely reliant on the sup-port of others, the Coastguard, the Red-cross, the lifeguards, The Department of Defence, The Westcourt Hotel, The Moor-land Café, McCloskey ‘s Bakery, Gerry Kelly LMFM, Suzanne Collins, Integral Gym, Coca Cola Southgate, Gerry Car-rol Coaches, Matthews busses, Michael Devine, Marie Sherlock, the NECRET Team, our registration ladies, Lisa Delany, Colette Cassidy, Annette Healy, Claudine Healy, Geraldine Killeen, Sinead Meehan, and Ann Reynolds. No doubt I have for-gotten someone to mention someone and for this I truly do apologize. §© October 2017 The Meath Coaster54Minor RoundupAn historic month for our boys and girls minor teams as we fielded two girls teams in the minor league and reached a fourth boys minor champion-ship semi-final in a row. Well done to our girls team on their fantastic achievement. Our Senior minor team recorded a win over St Michaels whilst the Junior team were unlucky to lose out against the Slane/Rathkenny combination first team. The future is certainly bright for both team and ladies football in the club. Our minor boys have had taken the harder route in the championship, losing out to favourites Summerhill in the first round but coming through the back door to record good wins over Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Clann na Gael. A semi-final v Skryne, Wolfe Tones or Longwood/Clonard awaits. Good luck to both teams for the remainder of the campaignCoachingOur Games Promotion Officer, Niall Kane has been very active and is currently coaching in all out our local schools. As well as our Primary School programme, Niall is working with the Transition Year students of Colaiste na hInse who are completing the Foundation Certificate in GAA coaching and we look forward to seeing a whole new wave of coaches sup-porting the club in the future. We encour-age everyone to give our games a go and as the slogan goes “Have a ball”. We will be introducing Niall to all our coaches over the next few weeks where we will outline our plans for the year aheadCalling All Young Hurlers And Camo-gie PlayersEast Meath have a goal to become a hurl-ing force in the county and are developing a strong underage presence. If you are interested in camogie contact Rory on cillescamogie@gmail.com for further detailsU15 UpdatesOur U15 boys and girls teams are both very busy and progressing well in their leagues. Both the boys and girls Division 1 teams are sitting on top of the table following excellent performances to date and if they can keep working hard should hopefully progress to the knockout stages. However, the performance of the U15 boys and girls junior teams are really capturing the im-agination. Both teams have been involved in high scoring thrillers and are very much the teams to follow for that adrenalin rush! Its s super achievement to be fielding mul-tiple teams at this age group and a big well done to all the players and the coaches who are working so hardCois Na Mara - Volunteer of The MonthAs you know from last month’s edition we welcome Carroll Estates/Cois na Mara to the club as a Sponsor. As well as our score board sponsorship the business is backing the “Volunteer of the Month” award rec-ognising those who play an important role in our club. We are delighted to announce that our September winner is Jude Mc-Nabb. Jude has worked incredibly hard in establishing our Primary School’s coach-ing programme and establishment of the Cooney and Corn Cois Farraige Cups and still finds time to coach our U14 boys team who in recent months have represented the County at the National Feile reaching the semi-finals, and winning the Meath U14 league and Paddy O’Brien Cups.
