< Previous© October 2017 The Meath Coaster40Effective Therapy For Your Depression Cognitive behavioural thera-py (CBT) is a type of psy-chotherapy. This form of therapy modifies thought patterns to change YOUR depressed feel-ings and behaviours. Based on the idea that negative actions or feelings are the result of cur-rent distorted beliefs or thoughts. CBT is a blend of cognitive therapy and behav-ioural therapy. Cognitive therapy focuses on your Depressed Feelings and thoughts. A Combined Mind Therapist like myself practicing the combined approach of CBT works with you to identify your specific negative thought patterns and behavioural responses to challenging or stressful situ-ations.Treatment involves developing more bal-anced and constructive ways to respond to stressors. Ideally these new responses will help minimize or eliminate the troubling behaviour or disorder. CBT helps you track and manage your depression and anxiety symptoms. How CBT worksCBT is a more short-term approach than psychoanalysis and psychodynamic thera-pies. These older forms of therapies used in the past require several years for dis-covery and treatment. CBT often requires only 10 sessions, spaced out over a few months. After-all your Depression took years to establish and get to this level, a few sessions a month will help you take control and modify the feelings easily. A short time to achieve a recovery process. The sessions provide opportuni-ties to identify current life situa-tions causing or contributing to your depression. Together we will identify what leads to your depression and how to over-come or control it. You will learn to control and modify thoughts and depressed /anxious feelings and to accu-rately and comprehensively replace them with self-talk that is accurate and bal-anced, and respond more positively with feelings of wellness. What disorders can CBT treat?Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia, Depression, IBS, Chronic Pain, Panic Attacks, Fears Phobias, Lack of Confidence and Self Es-teem and hundreds of other mental, emo-tional and physical symptoms and issues. What the Experts Say“There is a massive tidal wave of evi-dence for cognitive behavioural therapy that suggests it is very effective at treating problems,” Simon Rego, Psy.D. of Mon-tefiore Medical Centre in New York.“The breadth of evidence isn’t as exten-sive for other forms of psychotherapy.” “More evidence-based studies have been conducted on the results of cognitive-behavioural therapy than any other kind.” So can I help you? The words ‘hilly’ and ‘undulating’ were mentioned when describing the course but they finished it smiling anyway. Our intrepid youths were in Carlingford Adventure Centre, earlier this month. A well deserved day out in-volved Laser Combat, Kayaking and pon-toon jumping. Sounds exhausting! If any-one wants to take the coaches out, a spa day will be fine! The last race in our Cilles Ac race league series was run in Rathoath on the 10. Amazing running from eve-ryone with lots of PBs earned, Bryan Barry came first in his category and An-thony Lannon broke 19 mins for the 5k, fabulous! Our awards will have been held when you are reading this, so watch out next month for all the highlights of what’s sure to have been a glittering night!Bigi linn ag rith §© October 2017 The Meath Coaster43Boyne HockeyBoyne Hockey marked the start of their new season with a visit from Irish Internationals Jes-sica McGirr and Hannah Mathews. The children were treated to a master class in both attack and defence following which Jessica and Hannah answered lots of ex-cellent questions and signed autographs for their East Meath fans. This was a great opportunity for the children to meet their heroes and we hope to have further visits from Irish team members before they head off to the Hockey World Cup in London next summer. The international duo also presented a signed picture of the Irish hockey team on tour earlier this year and this has been giv-en pride of place in the newly renovated club house.Boyne Hockey was established in 2009, and less than a decade later, has now over 200 children and young (and not so young) adults playing in Drogheda Grammar School each week with older teams play-ing very competitively in the Leinster Junior League. Training takes place on Saturday mornings for Senior infants to 6th class players, with secondary school players training on Sundays and either Wednesday or Thursday evening. Social hockey takes place for adults on Monday nights at 8pm. So grab a gum guard and shin pads and see you pitch side. We can supply the hockey stick if you need one. For full details of training times and events, check out the Boyne Hockey Club web-site (http://boynehockey.ie) and Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/BoyneHC/).New members always welcome.Sonja Collier & Sinead Nolan from BHC with Irish hockey international Jessica McGirr and Hannah Matthews Irish Internationals Jessica McGirr and Hannah Matthews join the first training session© October 2017 The Meath Coaster44McKeown and Bailey in 3rd. The dressage show at Cheval Show-grounds was a great success, with dres-sage judge Bernie Webb tasked with marking the riders that performed. In the AP class, Stacy Forsyth and her lovely horse Pippa came 3rd in a very competi-tive class, and Olivia Nolan and Abi rode a lovely test, but were unlucky to be out of the placings. Sarah Cassidy and Wood-land Badger placed 2nd in the Intermediate class, with Marie Farrell and her ex-race-horse Time Travel doing a lovely test too, but were not placed. Mairead and Prince were leading after the dressage, but because of a few SJ faults missed out on placing. Really well done to Mairead and Gary for travelling Castle Hill Riding Club September has proven to be an in-credible month for the members of Castlehill RC. The club ran two shows re-cently, a Working Hunter at Castlehill EC and the second leg of the Autumn Dres-sage League at Cheval Showgrounds. The members of the club have donated a huge amount of time to volunteer at these shows, and the committee are very grate-ful for everyones support. The morning of the Working Hunter gave us horrendous, stormy weather condi-tions, and it was with monumental ef-fort, the club members banded together to move the course from outdoors to the indoor arena. The incredible course was designed by Niamh Mullen, and it rode brilliantly, but it was up to Vivienne O’Connor to judge the horse and rider combinations. Huge thanks to both Niamh and Vivienne for all their hard work. In the Intro Performance Hunter class, Ciara McKeown and Bailey placed 2nd, Marie Moore and Suzie were 5th and Olivia Nolan and Abi were 6th. The day started in style thanks to the generosity of East Coast Travel and together with their large and dedicated cohort of supporters, the journey to Oscar Traynor Road served to build the atmosphere nicely in advance of a 3pm Kick Off against St John Vianny. The message from coaches Stephen Reilly and Ray Dunne was clear from the moment the whistle blew “Play football and enjoy this moment”! And that they did! A day that will live long in their young memo-ries, this hard working and dedicated team lifted the cup with a 4-1 Final Score. Post match celebrations were enjoyed in the Limekiln’s Dovecote Function Room or-ganized by Olan McNeece.
