Meath© September 2020 The Meath Coaster 8 Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh Laytown A collective sigh of relief will be breathed by all Staff when we open the doors of the school on the 7 th of September. We are looking forward to re- opening the school and welcoming back all 482 pupils. The last few months have been a time of incredible solidarity, a time when a sense of community has come to the fore. I have witnessed at first hand the extraordinary work of the Staff, Board of Management, the COVID-19 Committee and the Parents Association collaborating to ensure the safe opening of the school. We have seen innovation, cooperation, volunteerism, charity and kindness on an enormous scale. It has been a mammoth task however underpinning it all has been each person playing their part and striving to achieve a safe and positive school environment with very limited resources. After months of preparation and hard work we are pro- gressing very well. The Removal Com- pany has removed all our resources and surplus furniture as we now set up the classrooms in compliance with the social distancing requirements. An intensive deep cleaning this week will see the school restored to a new “normal” with signage for a one way system. At the centre of the school community are our pupils. The Staff have been preparing for a smooth transition by putting in place a comprehensive Well Being program. We continue to adhere to the general restric- tions and advice around COVID. “It always seems impossible until it is done” - Nelson Mandela Re-opening the School on Monday 7 th September 2020 The school will open gradually on Mon- day the 7 th of September as outlined below. 1. Wednesday 9 th all classes will attend school for the full day, arriving at the appointed times and leaving at the ap- pointed dismissal times. These times will ensure full compliance with the social distancing requirements as recommended in the Department guidelines. Tuesday 1 st - Friday 4 th : each class will be online for 30 minutes daily at the discre- tion of the Teacher's time. The Staff have been working extraordi- narily hard to prepare for the presentation for the Information evening at 7 pm. A word of welcome to all our new fami- lies and looking forward to re-connecting with the school community next week. Thank you for your ongoing support and positivity. Bláithín Maguire - Principal St. Mary's Julianstown CoI T he Harvest thanksgiving service will be in St. Mary’s church of Ireland, Julianstown on Sunday 13 th September at 10.30 am. Instead of decorating the church with flowers and produce this year which takes several hours with people mixing and min- gling, the decorations will be made up of items which will be donated to Drogheda Homeless Aid. Numbers in church are limited to 50 peo- ple and there will be no visiting preacher. However, we are, in the midst of this time of health crisis, thankful for all who have cared for us and for those who have kept food on our shelves" ¶ Missing the Meath Coaster? T he Meath Coaster continued to be published during the Covid-19 lock- down, as digital editions online. The April, May, June, July and August issues are available at www.meathcoaster.com/ library. Some issues reached over 7,000 readers and that trend is likely to grow! To make reading and sharing articles eas- ier on mobile devices, the Coaster also expanded its digital platform with a new Articles page featuring individual stories at www.meathcoaster.com/articles. This page is regularly updated throughout the month for events and news that happen in-between printed issues. New articles are linked on the Coaster's Facebook page. As so many great photos arrive every month but only one can make the cover, there is now the Coaster's Insta- gram page. §Next >
