< Previous© June 2020 The Meath Coaster 50 Bettystown B-5 Our wonderful annual 5 miler race has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years. Last year we were at capacity with entries and the night was a huge success with everyone looking for- ward to what would be on offer this year. Sadly, we’ve had to cancel this year’s physical race. Preparations were already under way and we were looking forward to showing off this years bling. We’re currently working on an idea for a virtual race that will allow anyone who enters to walk/run their 5 miles on a route of their choosing, all proceeds will go to a charity to be nominated by the club, we’re working on the fine print. In the mean time have a look at our medal offering.. §.Laytown & Bettystown Tennis Club Let's Play Tennis! Are you missing gaelic, rugby, soccer, hockey, basketball? Everyone has done so well in respecting the government guidelines so hopefully we will continue to move through the phases now and get the coun- try back up and running. At St Colm- cille’s we are staying busy and here is a run-down of a few things over the last month Pieta House Saturday 9 th May was to be the first local Darkness into Light event and the day was met with a spectacular sunrise. Whilst the event fell victim to COVID-19, the club was not to be found wanting in its efforts to support Pieta House. The U16 girls had the idea to raise €250 for 250km of exercise and wow did it grow. They challenged and coordinated teams from across the club (and beyond in fact ) and through walking, running, cy- cling a grand sum of €13,879 was raised for the charity. In these difficult and chal- lenging times it was uplifting and heart- warming to see so many of the Cilles Family and Friends out and about and do- ing their piece for this most wonderful of charities. To Kevin and all the U16 girls, we com- mend you on your ingenuity and project management skills, to all the teams who took part , we are forever grateful to you. Your efforts have given Pieta House a life line. We are so proud of you all Ryan Cinnamond Talk GPO Conor Brennan hosted a webinar with the inspirational, Ryan Cinnamond on Tuesday 19 th May.
