The cafe and cafe courtyard will remain closed for another few weeks due to social distance requirements but there are snacks and ice cream for picnics in the garden available in the Eco Shop. The walled garden and nature trail are open - €2 per adult and €1 per child. There is also Sonairte certified organic 100% plastic free packaged veg for sale in the Eco Shop and via the delivery scheme, a range of Fair Trade and environmentally friendly products and amazing value- as well as sustainable fashion - in our every- thing €2 2 nd hand shop. Local Schools As we go to press plans are being an- nounced about re-opening our local schools. Of course they will be in contact with parents as the time approaches and details may change but some information is already available. St. Patrick’s N.S. is aiming to re-open on the 31 st of August and the postponed 2020 Holy Commun- ion will hopefully take place on Saturday the 12 th of September. If you’re looking for a primary school place then please note St. Patrick’s have spaces in First, Second, Third, Fifth, and Sixth classes from the start of the new school year, but the intake for junior and senior infants, and fourth class is full. Instagram @meathcoaster During July an Instagram account went live to highlight the many wonderful pho- tos sent in as prospective magazine cov- ers by local residents every month. As there can only be one cover each month, Instagram offers an ideal platform to share more photos with the community. There are many great photographers, both professional and hobbyists in the area and they find so much inspiration all around. If you have a photo you'd like to share, please email it to dermot@meathcoaster.com. Website Meanwhile the www.meathcoaster.com/ library website features the digital edi- tion of the Coaster every month. With the Covid-19 lockdown effecting so many business, the digital edition became in- creasing important to the communities with over 7000 readers some months. That trend is likely to increase. To make reading and sharing articles easier on mobile devices, a new page has been created featuring individual links for each piece. Each article will include a social media sharing button. There is also a comments section below most ar- ticles. Deputy O’Dowd said: “Our local green- way will encourage tourism in the future, and will also provide a safe, segregated space for people walking and cycling. Southgate Bus Route As part of the Government’s July Stim- ulus the National Transport Authority plan to further develop the bus network for Drogheda and the communities of the Meath coast including Bettystown & Laytown). The NTA implemented the first route in mid-2016: Route D1 – Laytown via Bettystown to Drogheda. Subsequently Route D2 was implement- ed in August 2019 – an enhancement to Route D1, effectively doubling frequency on the combined corridor while serv- ing communities via Golf Links Road to Drogheda. Usage of those services (prior to Covid) has been encouraging. The NTA now intend to introduce two new routes – Route D4 and D5 - connect- ing Southgate Shopping Centre to Aston Village / Ballymakenny College – 2 buses / hour on each route combining to give 4 buses / hour. §Next >
