< Previous© April 2020 The Meath Coaster 60 The gang all put in wonderful times over the 13 miles, considering the hilly nature of this particular route. Bohermeen half marathon The Bohermeen half marathon took place on 7 th March, busy weekend for the club! Alan mulligan 1.34.36 - Kenneth Boyle 1.41.50 - Derek Butler 1.44.04 - Shay Clarke 1.47.19 - Mairead Murphy 1.47.59 Ciara Lenihan 1.48.04 - Regan Nawn Buckley 2.01.12 - Amy Ball 2.04 The gang clocked up some incredible times!! Well done to you all. Club AGM Our club AGM was held on the 27 th of Feb and we had a super attendance with plenty of participation from the floor and sugges- tions for improving our club moving into the future. Sadly our plans will have to wait a little longer to be put into action but as soon as it’s safe to do so, we’ll be back into action. There were some changes to the com- mittee, most notably, Graham Hyland, our founder, stepped down as chairper- son. Graham founded the club along with his wife Lorraine and has presided over its growth to its current position. He’s brought great enthusiasm and energy to the role and we’ll be forever indebted to him for giving us a club in the sport we love and bringing us runners together. His love of running has filtered down into all aspects of the club and it’s this core that drives us all to enjoy our running and sup- port each other, so thank you Graham. We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Olivia O’Rourke our former registrar, a great deal of work went into making this area run so smoothly, thank you Olivia. Regan Nawn Buckley stepped down as PRO, Regan kept the club in the limelight through The Coaster, Facebook and many newspaper articles and race reports, always entertaining and very im- portant for the club profile, thanks for all your hard work Regan. Geraldine Doyle stepped down as Child welfare officer for Seafield, this is one of the most important areas of the club, ensuring that all child welfare policies are being adhered to. Our juveniles enjoy their running in a safe and positive environment and this is down to the efforts of all of our coaches and vol- unteers under the guidance of our welfare officers, thank you Geraldine. Orla Turner steps into the chairperson’s role, Orla was secretary last year and has been on the committee since the founda- tion of the club. Tony, Micheal, Mairead and Olivia have joined the committee this year, looking forward to all the new ideas some fresh heads will bring to us. Nicole, Eimear and Bridget retain their roles from last year, thank you for your continued hard work, and Graham takes up the new position of competition secretary. We wish all the committee members the best of luck in their roles for the coming year. Sup- posedly it is good to live in interesting times but just right now it does not appear like that and right now all we crave is a bit of normality, a chance to see loved ones, a chance to hug a loved one. Throughout it all though relationships and a sense of belonging and community are crucial. St Colmcilles is leading the way in this re- gard Covid-19 Assistance We are so proud to say that we have 50 plus volunteers all signed up to help the vulnerable in our community with their day to day needs. Meals on Wheels, Food and prescription deliveries have all being assisted by our intrepid volunteers. The club has also linked in with Centra to as- sist them in their deliveries and all the lo- cal community work groups. No job is too small. If we can help in any way then please do not hesitate to contact Ciara on 087-6560343 and Brian on 087-1141150 and we will get one of the team to call to you. We are only too glad to help Shane Black Property Advisors Cúl Cilles Whilst all sporting facilities are in lock down, we are working behind the scenes that our famous GAA academy, proudly supported by Shane Black Property Ad- visors will still commence this month. Using the wonders of modern technology and with a lot of team work behind the scenes we hope to beam sessions to all our young players so that we can all keep our skills going for when the season starts again – and start it will !! Keep an eye on our social media (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and our website www.cilles. com for further details) Missing The Games? You Can Still Stay In Touch There may be no live action at the moment but you can still catch some classic action with the club via our social media. Cur- rently playing via Facebook are the All Ireland semi-final v Pomeroy in Armagh and the All Ireland Club final v Westport. We are currently working on uploading © April 2020 The Meath Coaster 63 the Intermediate final from 2016. If you have some old games and ideally a digital link to these then please let us know and we can them up for everyone’s enjoyment Keep The Skills Up Whilst we have no training ongoing at the moment its an opportunity for everyone to keep honing their skills. In conjunction with GPO Conor Brennan we are running a number of skills initiatives and thank you to everyone who has been posting these to us. A huge thank you to SPO- TON Sports who supported the 100 Touch Challenge giving us 15 balls for partici- pants. Many teams are running their own challenges and its great to see the camara- derie and support that is being generated Club Lotto Our club lotto continues online and with our intrepid lotto sellers unable to sell at usual retail outlets or door to door, it would really be a great support for the club if you could support us by playing our Club Lot- to by playing online at https://cilles.com/ club-lotto/ You can play weekly, monthly or annually and all funds go towards day to day running costs like maintenance, schools coaching, insurance costs, light and heating etc. Your support no matter how small would be greatly supported # Onfield Wrap Up The first two weeks of March saw a num- ber of games go ahead and well done to the minor boys on making the league semi-final where they will now play Ratoath when the competitions resume. Our ladies adult teams have continued their strong progress and remain unbeaten and well placed for the remainder of the competition. Finally hard luck to the sen- ior boys of Colaiste na hInse GAA team on just missing out on the Leinster Final. A super achievement by all to reach this stage That’s all for this month but in the mean- time can everyone stay safe and well §© April 2020 The Meath Coaster 64 RELIGIOUS SERVICES STAMULLEN - JULIANSTOWN www.dioceseofmeath.ie/parishes Fr Declan Kelly PP Tel: 01 8412647 Preston Hill Stamullen Tel 01-8412647 e-mail secsj@eircom.net ST PATRICK’S CHURCH STAMULLEN Vigil Mass Saturday 6pm Sunday 10:00am 10am Mass on Tuesday and Thursday First Friday, please contact Parish for information.
