The standard was very high as pupils were inspired by the wonderful prizes sponsored by Coco Blair’s uncle Hugh, who is Professor of Astrophysics at the International Space University, Strasborg. Hugh and some of his colleagues judged the competition and the student Council members presented the prizes to the winners at our whole school assembly. Well done all and míle buiochas to Coco’s family. Uí Loinsigh A Tribute to the late Clare McEnaney I t is with a very sad heart we mention the passing of our very dear friend and colleague Clare McEnaney. She was one of life’s beautiful souls, kind and so inter- ested in others. Clare was the designer of Julianstown Village Garden, and her foot- print has left a lasting effect throughout our village, for example the school gar- den, beds up through the village, planting the bluebells. and primroses in the wood, and as mentioned, the 3 acre wasteland along the R132 . Clare had the ability to turn dust into beauty. Clare was also a wonderful crafts- woman making our Santa suits, animal costumes, busy bee aprons, plus much more. Her cakes were scrumptious and her baking for the many events we had in the village were a delight. Her dedica- tion to Julianstown won us many awards both national and abroad. Clare was also involved with her church on many levels and really enjoyed her time with the craft and chatter group. Sonairte was dear to her and she had spent many months help- ing them with their admin, and also fund- raised for the community. Clare will be so sadly missed by so many. A spokesperson for Whitecross National School said “On behalf of Whitecross staff, I’m very sorry to hear this terrible news. Claire spent many hours toiling to design, build and maintain our fabulous school garden. Our deepest sympathy to Elizabeth, Fiachra and their dad. RIP” It has been such a traumatic time for many of us with the corona virus , completely unsettling the country, and our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected . We also remember Madeline Darby and Emer Dolphin who were also involved with the Julianstown community ..... We hope that the sun shines bright forever, their fears and pain has gone away, they are singing and dancing in the angels’ choir, and the angels know, what they have ...... St. Mary’s Catholic Church Julianstown is open every Sunday from10 am to 12 pm and Monday to Friday from 3pm to 4pm, if people wish to drop in to pray. Mean- while, Fr. Declan is continuing to say dai- ly Mass in the Oratory of Preston Hill for the intentions of parishioners. Funerals, weddings, and Christenings will continue under the restriction of Government. Par- ish newsletters are available to collect in the church. § Clare McEnaney and son Fiachrawww.change.org/SaveJulianstown Everyday on average 23,000 vehicles go through Julianstown and this figure is set to increase. The Government has published the list of essential services. Blood and platelet donation is amongst them. Therefore, do- nors with confirmed appointments to at- tend a donation clinic (blood or platelets) are exempt from the Government’s travel restrictions at this time. Please have your phone with you to be able to show your confirmed appointment at the donation clinic if requested. While some surgery and outpatients activ- ities are postponed, the treatment and care for cancer and many other life threatening conditions must continue. Evidence from other countries is that we need to collect 80% of normal demand during this crisis In keeping with public health guidelines the IBTS will work to constantly ensure that our staff, donors and patients are kept as safe as possible. To achieve this, the IBTS has decided to make changes to how our clinics operate. We are asking donors to make an appoint- ment when they are texted to attend their upcoming clinic When will this change commence ? From Monday March 30 th we will be chang- ing the current walk-in policy of our clinics to a new system that prioritises those regu- lar donors who have made appointments. We will limit the number of appointments for donors presenting at clinic every 10 minutes, and manage the subsequent flow of donors throughout the clinic. Drogheda Blood Donor Clinic Thanks The Irish Blood Transfusion Service would like to thank all 505 Donors who attended the recently held clinic in Drogheda. A breakdown of the total fig- ure shows that 47 first time donors and 22 former donors attended the clinic. A special thank you to our venues who facilitated us for the 6 days. Also thank you to our local voluntary organiser Ann Marie Beirth and the Drogheda Red Cross Unit for their assistance on each clinic and to Floorstyle who helped advertise our clinic in their display windows. Finally, thank you to Rob and Emma Gilbey for their support and Facebook presence and John Healy for the additional support he provided this visit. About 70,000 patients are transfused with blood each year in Irish Hospitals. To do this we must collect approximately 3,000 donations of blood each and every week from voluntary donors like you. A to- tal of 2,463 units alone were required in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda alone during 2019. A heartfelt thank you to all who attended or helped with our Drogheda Clinic in any way.. §© April 2020 The Meath Coaster 29 041 98 444 98 041 98 111 98 086 838 4444 www.eastcoastcabs.com EAST COAST CABS SERVICING MEATH COAST & DROGHEDA REGIONS CABS - 4, 6 & 8 SEATERS NEW RANGE OF MINI-VANS COACHES - 16, 24, 36 & 54 SEATERS AVAILABLE Hospice Pancake Morning E ast Meath Hospice Association thank all who supported our annual Pancake morning in City North Hotel on Tuesday February 25 th .
