All their produce is sourced from local suppliers. Great to have a butcher’s shop back in the village. Unfortunately as one shop opens, another shut with Launderland Dry Cleaners closing their Stamullen shop after 12 years so they can concentrate on their other shop in Bettystown (opposite Neptune Hotel). Stamullen will be on the TV during Sep- tember (2 nd -5 th ) when local farm Broadleas is featured on RTE’s annual programme “Big Week on the Farm”. Tune in and see who you can spot in the audience! Two worthy local charities are seeking volunteers at the moment. The first is the Drogheda Samaritans. They held informa- tion sessions at the end of August in their base at 2 Leland Place, Stockwell Street, Drogheda about what is involved but you can still contact Brigid at 041-9843844 (10a.m. – 1p.m.) or email droghedasams@ gmail.com to get more information. Also seeking help are the Friends of Autism and ADHD. They operate three shops – one in Skerries and two in Balbriggan and they urgently need staff for the Balbriggan stores for 2-3 hours per week. Roles include customer ser- vice, sorting clothing, using the till, fur- niture collections/deliveries, and driving a van. If you feel you could help you can contact a store manager directly, email niamh.friends@gmail.com, or ring 01- 8495670. Additionally our local charity – Hope for Homeless is seeking drivers for their Monday night runs to the GPO in Dublin (https://www.facebook.com/ HopeforhomelessDublin/). Three volunteer-run organisations are busy with our local teens this month. First, Balbriggan Rugby Club has resumed after the summer break. Training for girls born between 2002 and 2007 is at 7.15p.m. on Wednesdays and new players are very welcome. http://balbrigganrfc.com/. Second, after last month’s Festival of Football, Stamullen FC is at it again, this time with the Girls Friendship Cup on the 25 th of August (as we go to press). With 33 teams taking part this will be a big event at Gormanston Park for under 11s right up to under 17s. Third, Stamullen 20 th Meath have revived their Venture Section (age 15-17) and are already busy. The teens are camping in Wicklow as we go to press and looking forward to Ventact in Cork – a weekend where Ventures from all over the country come to together for campfires, discos, and activities. The Meath County Development Plan is currently under review and is being updat- ed. The plan should be available to view from December for a ten week period.
