Well done to all involved, your a credit to the community. Julianstown Bypass A public meeting was held last month stressing the importance of the Julianstown Bypass. The Julianstown group were invited to the Oireachtas last month to make a presentation on the ef- fects of traffic on the R132. On Average the julianstown sees in excess of 20,000 cars pass through each day. Meath County Council have raised the matter with the Minister for Transport and it has emerged that the bypass for Julianstown is the pre- ferred route. The Council has made pro- vision of €800,000 in its capital manage- ment program over the next three years in the village, but for a project of this magnitude Capital grant support will be required from central Government. Fol- lowing the public meeting last month Lo- cal County Councillors for the Laytown/ Bettystown municipal district adapted a motion put forward by Cllr Hoey to ‘call on the minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross to designate R132 as a National road’. Alverno Court Refurbishment project Alverno Court Refurbishment project is long over due and I have continued to raise this with Meath County Council. We were informed at our last council meeting that Part 8 planning permission is now in place and individual surveys on the units concerned have been conducted by the architects team in preparation of tender documents. I will continue to press this is- sue with Meath County Council to ensure works begin as soon as possible. § Council Update By Cllr.
