They are always looking for new members and training is on Monday evening from 7-8pm. All new members welcome.Under 14 Girls Become The Meath Fé-ile ChampionsSunday 14th of April became a day to go down in Club history when the girls under 14 team became Meath Féile champions. It has to be said that these are a great team of girls that have worked hard and pulled together as a team at all times and espe-cially when the going gets tough. A big thankyou has to go out to Linda Dungan, Phil Harney and Dave McKeon for all the time they have voluntary invested into this team and and it’s great to see them get their just rewards….Galway here we come!!!The Under 13 Saints Become The New Leinster League ChampionsAnother amazing achievement for our young hurlers in the Club. We travelled to Abbottstown by bus, which was excite-ment in itself and played out of our skins on a full size Astro. The opposition, Burne Rangers put up a great performance but The Saints shined through on the day to become the New Leinster League Cham-pions division 4. Final score Saints 1-03 vs Burne Rangers 1-00. The Saints panel will be presented with the Leinster medals at the season end.Bingo NewsThe bingo in the clubhouse is proving to be a great success. There is great atmos-phere and prizes to be won and everyone, young and old is welcome. Bingo every Sunday in the St.Pat’s Clubhouse at 8pm. The bingo team also ran an extremely suc-cessful junior bingo over the Easter holi-days. The weather was fabulous and as an added bonus, Storm in a teacup turned up as a surprise and gave all the bingo play-ers a free ice cream!! There were fantastic family friendly prizes to be won and a lot of belly laughs through out the afternoon. This event will definitely be repeated again over one of the next kids school breaks so watch this space! Our County PlayersIt was a great achievement for two of our under 16 players, Sean Emmanuel and John Mannion to both Captain Meath to comprehensive victories in our home grounds against down. Sean lead from midfield, while John anchored at full back in their respective games, both playing a big part to ensure Royal victories on a very proud day for the club. Aitzol King has done our club proud lin-ing out for the Meath Minor team against the Dublin team in April but unfortunately didn’t win on this occasion. We wish him © May 2019 The Meath Coaster61all the best in Pairc Tailteann in a couple of weeks. A hugh congratulations to Becky and Su-sanna as they helped Meath to win the Leinster Championship at the beginning of the month. Ellen Grant, Robyn O’Byrne and Tori Foster are still playing fantastic football and contributing greatly to the Meath un-derage teams. §Wild WatchersOur native wildlife is all around us all the time and yet you may never see it. Hedgehogs scurry along in the dark and seals dive deep beneath our seas. Foxes stealthily negotiate our fields and bound-aries while in the dead of night badgers snuffle through the leaves. At this time of year our wildlife is waking from hiberna-tion, returning from overseas and begin-ning to have their young. They are par-ticularly vulnerable at this point and often fall victim to road traffic accidents, hedge cutting or adverse weather. It is incredibly important that we keep an extra eye out and give a helping hand where needed to ensure their survival. Should you come across an injured or or-phaned animal PLEASE DO NOT touch or pick it up unless it is in immediate dan-ger. Please phone us on 087 620 1270, we have a nationwide network of rescue volunteers, (including some local to this area) with our Rehab Centre being in Kil-dare. If you absolutely need to move an injured animal, place it in a quiet, dark and warm place. Then call for help. Offer only water – no other fluids. §Golf Classic Anyone?St.Pat’s are holding a golf classic on Friday 17th May in Roganstown GC. A team of 4 including dinner is €300 or you can sponsor one of the holes for €50. It promises to be a fantastic day out. Here's a run-down of a very busy club monthMinor League ChampionsCongrats to the Minor Boys on winning a first MFL Division 1 title. The game was played on Sunday 14th April and was an advertisement of all that was great with our games. It took extra time to decide the destination of the silverware but after a titanic struggle our boys overcame the ef-forts of a strong Simonstown team. There were wonderful scenes at the end as Meath GAA's Honorary President, our very own Pat O'Neill presented the Cup to captain Cian Flynn. Narrow de-feats were the order of the day for both men and ladies teams but encouragingly performances were good and so confi-dence remains high. In the Men's Senior Football Championship a late goal gave Na Fianna a 4 point win over the Cilles Alannah and Caoimhe in the Leinster Minor Football Championship final © May 2019 The Meath Coaster64whilst round 2 saw us fall by a point to championship favourites, Simonstown. In the Junior Championship a late goal saw neighbours St Pats claim the spoils but we bounced back in round 2 to over-come a resurgent Don Ash and get back into contention. Our Junior D men's team played Trim in the Championship on Easter Sunday and in baking hot con-ditions overcame the town team and now face Clonard in Rd2. Our ladies teams went down narrowly with the Division 2 team losing out to O 'Mahonys by a point (a common theme of April) and our Di-vision 5 team losing out narrowly to old rivals Gaeil Colmcille. The President told the assembled me-dia that St Colmcilles was chosen as the launch venue "as the club has been lauded for its contribution to its community and its stellar activity in the Bettystown area – much of it away from the field of play". The new Manifesto is displayed in both English and Irish on our clubhouse walls captures everything that we as a club and a community stand for.
