The venue was the National Basketball arena in Tallaght on Friday the 1st of Feb. A majority of the lads were in the middle of their mocks, but that didn't stop their commitment and dedica-tion to the cause, continuing to train right up until the Thursday evening before the game. Our opponents were St Mary's College, Rathmines. They brought their whole school out on the day for support matched with 150 daltaí from CNI which made for an electric atmosphere in the Arena. Our lads had a decent first quarter find-Anniversary Gala ReunionFriday15th MarchTickets €20Including dinneravailableonline on eventbriteColáiste na hInseUnder 15 League Champions© March 2019 The Meath Coaster21ing ourselves a couple of points down at the end of it but we were taking our time to settle in. The sec-ond quarter did not go our way however, missed buckets led to fast breaks from our opponents and a 4 point turn around on a number of occasions. We found ourselves 29-16 down at half time with a little bit of an uphill battle. The lads came out a dif-ferent team in the second half. They fought, they defended and they left ab-solutely everything on the court. They chipped away at the Rath-mines lead and every score and block was cheered on both sides. There was a battle on the court but also in the crowd as to who could cheer the loudest. With 2 minutes to go in the last quarter the game stood at 43-40. Both teams were on team fouls and everything was on the line. It was not to be for us on the day. We lost 46-40 but the bród our men showed was to be admired. They could have eas-ily dropped their heads at half time but no, they stood strong and showed what they were made of. It has been a fantastic jour-ney, a majority of this team having played together under the coaching of Ciaran McGroggan for the last three years, with a few additions here and there. They are a fantastic group of gentlemen and they will be sorely missed on the basketball court next yearHockey Team Draw with Loreto Beau-fortOur hockey team were very unlucky not to beat Loreto Beaufort. Despite dominating the game, Loreto held out for a 0-0 draw.Idirbliain Dáltaí Create Really Rub-bish Film14 Idirbliain dáltaí worked alongside Jo-seph Orr of Really Rubbish Films to cre-ate their own short film over two days in February. Made in the style of a mocku-mentary, the dáltaí displayed a natural tal-ent for improvisation and comedy in the making of the film. All 20 boys and girls from Le Cheiles 5th and 6th class ran the 1500m races extreme-ly well. It was a really enjoyable event, despite the cold weather. In the team event, 4 of our boys were awarded a silver medal for coming 2nd place. Well done to all who participated on the day.are already coming up with great ideas to inspire the rest of the school. The com-mittee’s first task was to spread the word about the Active School Flag. They vis-ited all the classes with this news and told the pupils about our first project. We have asked the pupils to come up with a slo-gan for our “getting active” campaign. In addition to this, the pupils were asked to design a poster around it.Le Cheile preparations underway to achieve Active School FlagOur committee is made up of 8 boys and girls from 5th and 6th Class. Being active is something they are interested in and they For the month of February, we were un-dertaking the “Active Breaks Challenge”. Each class in the school had at least one break every day for the whole month. The breaks can be running breaks, exercise breaks or dance breaks. As part of our running breaks, we hoped to run around Europe. The committee surveyed the chil-dren as to which city we would run to first. The result was Paris, France. We used our new walkway to achieve this as a whole school. Every lap of the walkway equals 1 kilometre. After only one week we had reached our destination. As a school, we ran 2,999 laps that week. So, we not only reached Paris but we are also over half-way to our next destination of Athens, Greece. A fantastic effort by everyone! §Call us on 041 9886545 for an appointment.Email: bettystowndental@gmail.comWeb: www.bettystowndental.ieTriton Road, Bettystown, Co. Some of our newer resi-dents may be wondering “What is that place Sonairte” that they pass on their way to work every day. In brief, in 1988 the owner of the farmstead at Ninch House West and a group of environmental-ists came together and Sonairte, The Na-tional Ecology Centre, was established. The farm buildings and house date back to 1750 and have mostly been restored.Sonairtes vision is “to be a place that in-spires and promotes sustainable living through learning, co-operation and a car-ing relationship with nature.”It was way ahead of its time with alternative energy displays, the importance of soil health with Organic Certification of the Walled Gar-den and water saving, plus courses and tours teaching the importance of organic local food, and our dependence on the diversity of plants and wildlife in nature. Now 30 years later we are flooded with However if the amazing combined talents of the Coláiste na hInse students in We Will Rock You by Ciaran McCabe were anything to go by then the future is in great hands.Nature trail currently being worked onmore bad news every day about climate change, food security, soil erosion, loss of diversity and community.UpdateWe are currently closed while we under-take some essential maintenance work, prepare for the growing season, plan fu-ture events, and new energy displays. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to help us please visit our website www.sonairte.ie where you can download a Volunteer Application Form or email hello@sonairte.ie and we will be in touch with you. It’s love-ly to see the daffodils in bloom along with wallflowers in our Welcome planter on the approach road to Laytown.......We have almost finished our work restor-ing the flowerbed at the railway sidings. We had removed all the scutch grass and dead plants. Sincere thanks to Meath Co. Council for sending in the digger to help finish off the work. The old Mypex, which had weeds grow-ing through it, has been removed. We will replace it with new Mypex and cover this with pebbles to slow down any future weed growth.Sadly fly tipping continues in various loca-tions including the bottle banks in Laytown. It’s incomprehensible that people think it is acceptable to leave bags of rubbish like this. Who on earth do they expect to clean up after them? Hopefully the CCTV will be back at the site very soon.We plan to get started on the raised bed on the approach road very soon. The ground has been levelled and we hope to have the bed constructed within the next few weeks. The raised bed will have a pathway in front and a wildflower meadow behind it where we will be sowing pollina-tor plants and placing an insect hotel. We are open to any suggestions about projects.......if you have any ideas that you would like to suggest please let us know. We are always about on Saturday morn-ings between 10 and 11am and would love to hear from you!Aldi Win in High CourtA challenge against An Bord Pleanála over its September 2017 decision to permit the demolition of a disused nursing home at Strand Road, Laytown and re-place it with a 1,729 metre Aldi store and car park has been rejected by the HIgh Court in February.
