There were two beau- tiful ceremonies and recep- tions in the school. ICT - Digital learning The children in Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa have begun working on our digital learn- ing plan. Our focus is on using technol- ogy to foster collaborative learning and creativity. Infants will be using Puppet- Pals to complement the work being done in Aistear. First and second classes will be using BookCreator. This enables children to consolidate knowl- edge on a topic (particularly SESE) and Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa, Bettystown, Co. Meath to present the information in a variety of ways that suits different learning styles and abilities. Ms. Liddy’s class have been do- ing a fantastic job teaching oth- er classes to use these apps. We are very lucky to have a panel of experts so willing and able to share their knowledge before they leave our school. The Wriggle Road- caster visited second class this month. The children learnt about creating and ed- iting videos using the Clips app. They did some work with green screens and they also learnt to code Sphero robots. It was a great day and the children were very en- thusiastic participants. We hope to have the Roadcaster back in the future. § Photos by Franz Keller, 0872335136 theschoolportraitcompany@gmail.com© July 2019 The Meath Coaster 8 Bettystown Tidy Towns, BTT J une was another busy month for the BTT volunteers. As part of our Vil- lage Enhancement works we were busy painting in the village. The front wall of the former Donovan’s shop was painted and we installed some hanging flower bags along the wall. The walls in the village square have a new colour and we also painted the cottages lead- ing into the beach, as it may be a little while before the Council starts renovating them. Gone is the multi coloured wall along the path to the beach near the former Fate res- taurant and it now has a fresh coat of paint. In addition to painting we have been busy planting in our pollinator garden, in the site behind the boy with the kite. Our thanks to Roger & Liz Pickett of The Cottages for helping us layout the garden and for the fantastic selection of flowers and plants that they have planted in the garden. Rita and Valerie are doing great work in Brook- side and their work at the estate entrance benefits the entrance to our village. We make every effort to support local busi- nesses and the flower bags, bedding plants and compost were purchased from P & M Plants in Laytown, drop in to Pat and Mac, they have a great selection of plants to suit your needs. Our paint and hard- ware is purchased from Ollie’s hardware store, Homestore, on the Triton Road. We are very thankful to the follow- ing businesses for supporting our vil- lage enhancement works, Anagen- ic Hair Design, Carroll Estates, Reddan’s Bar and Relish Cafe. Our congratulations to Cllr. Sharon Tolan on her re-election to Meath Council and for the significant support she has provided to us each year including the street enhance- ment project and the Christmas Event. Local tradesmen have also given us their professional help, carpenters Ray and John, who built the flower beds at Brook- side and outside McDonough’s caravan- park, great work. And, to Robbie Wade Decorators for his painting work and Val Darcy from Budget Signs for replacing the sign at the beach entrance. Thank you guys, you have been a great help. To continue our work we do need more volunteers to assist us with planting bed- ding plants, planter weeding and watering, painting and litter picks. Join us any Sat- urday morning between 10 and 11, even for half an hour. Suggestions and ideas are always welcome and can be sent to us on our Facebook page or speak to us when we are out and about in the village doing our work. §Make a splash this Summer with 1 day turnaround* on print & signage 19 Fair Street , Drogheda 041 980 3135 / 9810505 info@beulahprint.ie Providing Professional Print Services to Meath Coaster Since 2009 *Subject to T&CsNext >
