Gary’s work in the maintenance and up-keep of the community is obvious to all. Between, litter picks, sand and weed removal to paint-ing, Gary is on top of it. All kerbs have been cleared of sand and grit, the walls, rail-ings, bus stop posts and old hydrants have all been painted. Thanks Gary, keep up the great work. In addition to Gary’s work, the BTT volunteers meet every Saturday morning at 10.00 a.m. for an hour to do more work in the village. We are working on a few projects to en-hance the area. One of these is the rein-statement of the Sli na Slainte map board in the village square and the replace-ment of the map board in Laytown and Mornington. Carroll Estates, who have part-nered with BTT, are working with us on the design and pur-chase of new welcome and road name signs for Bettystown, these signs will certainly en-hance the look of the village and they should be installed be-fore year end. The signs were part-funded by the Community Department of Meath County Council and our thanks to the Council for their assistance with this project and other projects we are undertaking. The Carroll Estates site crew from Cois na Mara are really getting involved in the local community and you may see them around the village assisting us with some work. In September, they were out on the Golf Links Road clearing the grit, weeds and debris at the speed ramps and they also cleared around the gullies at the road verge. This will assist with getting the sur-face water off the road and will help avoid pedestrians getting splashed. We have achieved a lot over the last 10 months and with some more volunteers we could do a lot more. It is not all about litter picks, there is a lot of planning and we do need assistance in the areas of na-ture, biodiversity and sustainability. Can you build an insect hotel or a bee hive, do you want to do gardening or planting? If you are interested in assisting, please message us on our Facebook page. We would also like to have a representative from local Resident Associations engage with us so that we can assist them with their efforts. §FROM €32,500OUTLANDER Smartphone Link Display Audio (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™) Rear View Camera & Parking Sensors Leather Seat Upholstery (Instyle) Keyless Operation System (Instyle)INTENSE 5 SEAT 2WD OR INSTYLE 7 SEAT 4WDMITSUBISHI PASSENGER VEHICLESModel shown: Outlander 2.2L DI-D 2WD Intense 5 seat. One or two other small fixtures have still to be rearranged and our com-mittee can proudly say that our efforts have been worthwhile and that this will be the start of many other good infrastruc-tural projects which will be coming on-stream for Laytown. The application for assistance was made under the RAPID programme and we were pleased that we were the only project chosen in the county in this last call for funding under this particular programme. We also wish to thanks John Lynch of Elite Landscaping for the excellent job which he and his team completed, their work was initially delayed because of bad weather. A word of thanks to Mc Kevitts Architects who provided the initial plans for the park and also to local Meath Coun-cil Engineer Christy Clarke for his advice on various aspects of the work. Finally a special word of thanks to PJ Collins and the Residents of Marian Villas for all the support they gave and we are pleased that this amenity is one which they can now cherish on their own doorsteps. Our committee also welcomes the work undertaken by Meath County Council on the new plaza and railings on the beach promenade and we wish to compliment our local Councillors and the Beach Com-mittee for their inputs to this development. In order to keep our local improvements work underway we need your financial support and we have now launched a pre-Christmas Cash-in-Hand confined draw which we would ask all locals to support. The draw for this cash prize of €500 will take place at our Pub Quiz evening in Gil-nas Lounge on Friday 2nd November. §Final plans being agreed.
