Membership enrolment is only a couple of weeks away. Yes we are now 3 years old so you will need to put 20th April in your diary. Now that the Mid-Term break is in full swing it’s time to consider put-ting your child’s name down for the en-rolment period beginning 20th April 2018. Annual membership continues to remain at €10, with a fully completed applica-tion form. As the minimum age for any child wishing to join is 11 years, a visual inspection of a Birth Cert may be necessary where there is doubt over a child’s age. Application forms including the membership fee will only be accepted from Friday April 20th @ 8:00 p.m. This is also a very good opportunity for you to have a look and see what we do in the hall and have a look at all the equipment we purchased with our Grant money early in the New Year. There are plenty of Gi-ant games even for the adults to try out if you’re feeling adventurous on the night. If you’re lucky Laura might even let you sit in with the crafty lot “they’re the usual suspects that do Arts & Crafts with one of our volunteers” each and every Friday night. They rarely ever make the same things twice in a year. Laura is always coming up with new ideas and keeping the members interested for most of the night. So well done Laura, keep up the good work. As you can see from some of the pictures, everyone was given an opportunity recently to complete a 4 metre long banner in graffiti with ei-© April 2018 The Meath Coaster7ther drawings or phrases about what they thought the Youth Club meant to them. It was very enjoyable to see the guys going back and forth to the banner when they thought of another phrase they wanted to add to express their feelings. We finished up in March, the weekend be-fore Paddy’s Day for the Mid Term and made sure all our clubbers were kitted out with an Ireland wrist band and an Ireland flag to wave should they be going to the parade. Not forgetting their Easter egg as we wouldn’t be seeing them again before Easter. I have to say they were delighted to be getting their surprise gifts.Again I would appeal to Parents of the Member’s Particularly, due to the popu-larity and success of the club and with © April 2018 The Meath Coaster8large numbers attending each week we definitely need more volunteers to ensure the continued success of our club. No previous experience required. Call in and see us on any Friday night, between 8.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. when we’re open. Our current volunteers are fully trained and Garda Vetted and are fully compliant with the new Child Safeguard-ing laws in place. And any new volun-teers will also be Garda vetted and be put forward to complete a Child Protection course in order to work with the young people in our club. It is very rewarding. We would also like to see more Youth Leaders participating in our club to join the existing Youth Leaders who attend to help out each week. So come on down! If you feel you’re too old to be a member, you’re probably the right age to become a Youth Leader. You will receive all the rel-evant training in leadership skills neces-sary too. Now while we are on the subject of Youth Leaders, I would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome Tristan Lennon as one of our newest Youth Lead-ers. Tristan has been with us from day 1 and has been a member of the Youth Cub for the 3 years that we have been in existence. He is a wonderful young man, enthusias-tic energetic and very organised and we are very lucky to have him on board with us.If you’re reading this and are interested in becoming a volunteer/youth leader in this Youth Club or just want to enquire about membership for your child, you are welcome to come in to the club on any open Friday evening from 8 p.m. onwards in the main hall of Coláiste Na Hinse to meet and chat with our current volun-teers. Alternatively for any other enquir-ies call 089 469 4242 or visit us on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/EastMeathYouthClub. to find out more information. §St.Colmcille's 'Gaelic for Dads' lads John-ny O'Rourke and Cllr Stephen McKee at the recent Oskars Fundraiser in the City North Hotel.© April 2018 The Meath Coaster9Seachtain na GaeilgeBunscoil Buachailli Realt na MaraThe boys in Bunscoil Buachaillí Réalt na Mara engaged in lots of fun activi-ties during Seachtain na Gaeilge including learning damhsaí, amhráin agus tráth na gceist. On Friday the 16th we welcomed 3 local traditional Irish musicians to our school. They entertained us with songs, jigs and reels. All the boys danced along with the musicians to the Walls of Limerick and the Siege of Ennis.
