The members of Castlehill RC have been busy jumping at the AIRC North East Region “Jump for Joy” league recently, and have been winning plenty of rosettes with their horses.
The league took place over 4 weeks in September and November, and it was conceived to get riding club members back out jumping after a long lockdown. To qualify for prizes at the final, competitors had to compete at two legs.
The first leg was hosted by Choltrai RC at Balcultry Stables near Swords, Co. Dublin, and flying the flag for Castlehill RC were Catriona Bowens and Beau Garcon in the 70cm and 80cm classes, Sarah McNulty Malone and Jinx in the 80cm, Susan O’Connor and Darcy in the 90cm, and Chloe Rogers and Charlie in the 90cm and 1m classes.
The ladies then attended the second leg hosted by Ard Lú RC at Piperstown Equestrian Centre near Drogheda, Co. Louth, where they picked up their second qualifying place to compete at the final, and were joined by Elaine Mulligan and DMF alphabet in the 70cm and 80cm classes.
It was only Elaine Mulligan that travelled to the third leg hosted by Border Counties RC at Cloncaw EC, Glaslough, Co. Monaghan, and picked up her second attendance to qualify for the final which was hosted by Macetown RC at the National Sports Arena, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. The Castlehill RC ladies jumped out of their skin to pick up the following fantastic placings:
70cm class:
Caitriona Bowens and Beau – 3rd
Elaine Mulligan and DMF Alphabet – 4th
80cm class:
Sarah Malone and Jinx – 1st
Elaine Mulligan and DMF Alphabet – 4th
Caitriona Bowens and Beau Garcon – 5th
90cm class:
Susan O’Connor and Darcy – 1st
Chloe Rogers and Charlie – 2nd
1m class:
Chloe Rogers and Charlie – 1st
Well done to all the ladies who were competing, and thanks the clubs who hosted which gave members a platform to compete.
