During the summer eight of our talented students donned the green and gold of Meath and won Leinster and All Ireland titles, both for the minors and U20s. Their successes are a result of their individual hard work, determination, motivation and talent. Credit is also due to their families, teachers, coaches and clubs who have supported them to reach such heights. Huge congratulations to Alan Bowden, Luke Hanan, Sean Emmanuel, Liam Stafford, Shaun Leonard, Oisin Black, John Mannion & Eoin Gillick.
To celebrate their success the school organised a Jersey day where €1,100 was raised. Not every one was able to dress in the Meath colours (County loyalties are fierce especially among teachers) but a great effort was made by all to participate in the day. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Jack and Jill foundation.
The school also organised a guard of honour outside for the students involved where they got to receive the applause of the teachers and students at St. Mary’s DS, no doubt earning them legions of younger fans in the school! It ended at the front of the school where principal Mr O’Hare questioned the lads about their great exploits this summer and they got to reflect on a momentous summer in front of the assembled school outside.
