East Meath United F.C. – August 2021

Club News

Our big news this month is that the drilling works undertaken proved to be a success and we are delighted to announce that East Meath is now the proud owner of a new Water Well. This piece of infrastructure and provision of running water will be vital to the ongoing development of our facilities. Which will now allow us to eventually have plumbed toilets!! A massive thank you to all our club members who assisted in making the dream a reality.
This month has also seen the return of our under21’s so watch this space for more details as the weeks go on.

New Teams
We are excited to announce, we have 3 new under 9’s teams. We would like to welcome the new coaches and players as they take their first steps as new teams.

New Club Officers
The club would like to welcome Ciara Grant as our new PRO & Peter O’Brien as our new Grants officer. Thanks to both for coming on board in these important roles.

Summer Camps
The first of our camps ran from the 12-16th of July and was an amazing success. We had 75 players aged 6- 14 attend over the 5 days. The weather proved a challenge but did not deter the spirits and everybody enjoys the glorious sunshine and games. Organised by the FAI and headed up by EMU coach Ciara Grant and a team of 6 local coaches the players had a wealth of experience to learn from. As a club we would like to thank the FAI and the coaching team for an amazing programme and our RDO Richie Smith for guaranteeing the weather. The camp would not have been a success without all your efforts. Everybody had a blast, and we look forward to the remaining camps.

Football for All
Our Football for All team, also known as the ‘All Stars’ are going from strength to strength under the guidance of an amazing team of coaches. This programme was initiated to assist and develop football opportunities for all players with a disability in our local community. Everybody regardless of their ability should have the opportunity to access football in the locality and this group provides that and a pathway for those who want it to progress to competitive teams. For further information on the programme please contact Janet Johnston on (085) 128 9477.

Goalkeepers
We at East Meath are delighted to welcome current Ireland U19 Goalkeeping coach Dermot O’Neill to the club for the remainder of the summer running a 5 Week Development Programme starting 20th July for boys & girls in East Meath Area every Tuesday Night. Dermot’s 18 plus years’ experience as a goalkeeping coach will be of amazing benefit to our young keepers, teaching them how important they are on the pitch while giving them key skills and drills they can develop further with their teams or at home.

Academy
Our academy is on Saturday mornings in Minnistown from 8:30 (ages 4 & 5) and 9:45 (ages 6&7). We also have a designated girls only group for (ages 4-7) which runs during the earlier session.
