The Association of Irish Clubs announced a return to training with the recent easing of Government Covid-19 restrictions, and the members of Castlehill RC couldn’t have been more enthused.
The club ran very successful Showjumping training on Thursday 20th of May, where HSI coach and international course designer, Tom Holden, put our members through their paces at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown. There were many smiling faces on the evening of the training, with a renewed vigour for participation in club teams in preparation for the NER National Team Showjumping Qualifier in July. Well done to Sarah, Caitriona, Niamh, Rose, Caitriona Kavanagh, Kate, Ciaran and Sean on their stellar jumping. Huge thanks to Tom for sharing his knowledge and expertise, and thanks also to Kate Hutcheson for organising.
Some of our members participated in Derby training with Paul Kilbride, hosted by Kilronan RC in Kilronan Equestrian Centre, Swords. Club secretary Olivia Nolan, Catriona Bowens and new members to the club, Alison Proudfoot, Sarah Reilly, and Nadia Verschoyle, all donned their XC attire to jump a super course of rustic and solid fences. Feedback was very positive, and all enjoyed the outing in trying weather conditions. Well done ladies!
The North East Region also hosted “Dressage Test Training” at Cheval Showgrounds, Jordanstown, Co. Dublin, where Lindsey ilona Brady and Trigger Joe got constructive feedback from judge Lucinda Webb Graham.
AIRC clubs are hoping to see a return to competition in the next few weeks, and no doubt with all the training and preparation our members are receiving, there will be plenty of placings and ribbons.
