Golf Resumes at Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club
Club members were absolutely delighted with the news that golf courses could reopen on April 26th last and the course has been a hive of activity since that day. As there has been no golf in Ireland for the last four months, players eagerly awaited the opportunity to get their names on the timesheets for the first week of social golf since the turn of the year.

Needless to say, the management of Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club has been very clear that all members must continue to follow strict guidelines and adhere to government rules and GUI advise. Even though the course is now fully open for members, the clubhouse, apart from the newly refurbished pro-shop and toilet facilities, remain closed for the moment. Players are restricted to playing in groups of two while strict protocols, to ensure everyone’s safety while at the club, are still being adhered to.
When golfers returned to play last week, they were pleasantly surprised by the extensive course improvements that had been carried out during the course closure. Head Greenkeeper, Stephen Hoey and his team have been working extremely hard over the spring period to ensure that the course was in superb condition when play resumed. Several bunkers have been rebuilt, extensive ground works carried out, steps rebuilt, paths laid and attractive tee markers and directional signs crafted in the course workshop and then installed on the course. These improvements will certainly provide members and visitors, who hopefully will be permitted to visit the course again soon, an enhanced golfing experience.
There has also been a surge in club membership in recent months and the club is delighted to welcome all of the new members who have joined this year. Club Chairperson, Pat O’Donohue, is also very grateful to the hundreds of loyal club members who continued to support the club financially during over the last 12 months when golf was not always available.
For anyone interested in becoming a member of Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club, there are still a small number of memberships available – more details on the club website. https://landbgolfclub.ie/

The club management is very much looking forward to the return of competitive golf, visitors and the re-opening of our catering over the summer. Visiting golfers will also enjoy the challenge of a new layout of holes which is now fully operational.
Thanks to club member and local photographer, David Lyons for the photos highlighting the improvements made to the link course over the last few months. §
