2020 was certainly a year to remember for so many reasons. As we end the year there is still so much uncertainty the end does appear to be in sight and we can look forward to a 2021 with hope. Our club is in its 50th year and we look forward to marking and celebrating that in due course On behalf of everyone at the Cilles we want to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year
Santa Visits Piltown
We were so very lucky to have a visit from the Great Man himself last month. The visit was made possible by the wonderful help of the Students of Coláiste na hInse and our sponsors, Wogan’s Hardware Supplies and Tesco West Street who ensured that we had a Christmas Wonderland and very safe experience. Well done to each and everyone who worked so hard on this event ensuring memories were created and that smiles and happiness and happiness were the order of the day. Barnardo’s were the chosen charity and we were honoured to present a cheque to Chief Barnardo’s Fundraiser and Cilles member and fan, Mary Gamble recently, A truly magical Christmas experience
AGM
Our 2020 AGM will take place remotely on Monday 11th January at 19:30. Pre-registration is critical. All paid up members should have been contacted with registration details.
Leinster Minor Championship
A huge congrats to Luke, Godfrey, Liam and Sean who are part of the Meath Minor Squad that have reached the Leinster Championship final. At the time of going to press the final is set for 2nd Jan but that will obviously depend on the latest Covid position. The lads have represented us with distinction and have given us all a great lift in these strange times. We wish them all the very best in their quest to join the long list of Leinster Champions in the Club
Lotto
Our club lotto funds day to day running costs and must be the one of most won lotto in the country. We need your support in these times with all other fund raising sources drying up. You can play online at www.cilles.com or subscribe for an annual ticket for €100 – if you are thinking of Christmas Gifts it would certainly be a winner
The jackpot is now €2,600 and historically a second winner follows very shortly after a big winner so make sure you are in with a chance
Please Support Local Business
As we come into a New Year we are asking all our members to purchase locally and to support all our sponsors as you in 2021. This year above all others it is critical that we spend and stay local, supporting in particular all our sponsors
Congratulations Brian
A big shout out to our Club Photographer, Brian Mulligan who received national recognition for his work and talent when two of his photos were chosen to be published in the “Toughest Year” book, produced by AIB to capture in photos, the year that was 2020. A supreme talent we are lucky to have so many volunteers like Brian who give selflessly of their time and energy to their local community. Well done Brian and an inspiration to all our budding photographers
