The school choir led by devoted teacher Nico-la brings together pupils from fourth, fifth and sixth class in their love for singing and performance.Le Cheile is delighted to be already devel-oping its own musical initiatives ahead of the government's announcement earlier this month which promises to provide ac-cess to musical education within five years.A big thank you to all the staff both teach-ing and non-teaching who prepared the children and organised the event, you the parents for your support and the children for providing so much entertainment for us all. MeathOur younger classes took to the stage with ease delivering a taste of poems as Gaelige followed by much-loved songs such as ‘Albuquerque the turkey’ and ‘Must be Santa’ to name a few…Our senior classes took to the stage to present their Christmas productions, a combination of a modern reflection on the Christmas story, followed by a comical portrayal of the alternative Grimm Broth-ers fairy tales. This year saw a special debut of the Le Cheile developing orchestra led by their music instructor Ailbhe. The budding mu-sicians filled the school hall with sounds from their cellos, violins, flute, clarinet, and trombone, whilst the audience accom-panied with the sound of Christmas bells. The Youthreach programme is the De-partment of Education and Skills of-ficial education, training and work experi-ence programme for early school leavers aged 16-20. It offers young people the op-portunity to identify options within adult life, and provides them with the opportu-nity to acquire certification and qualifica-tions. Youthreach also helps to develop the personal, social and civic skills of young people in a supportive and caring environment. Laytown/Bettystown Youthreach was es-tablished in 2007 in the East Meath area. Kayla, Brady and Torin Boylan from Beach Grove, Laytown wrote a letter thanking their parents Noe-lle and Paul for making Christmas so special. Kayla did a wonderful job of us-ing sign language during the add. Young Aaron Taaffe wrote a letter to his brother Conor thanking him for all his volun-tary work with the homeless. Fit Kids/Fit Teens Director Jacinta Cassidy was thrilled as over eight hundred letters had been submitted from all around the coun-try. 11 letters from the Fit Kids/Fit Teens were shortlisted and two were eventually chosen. A Camera Crew came to the chil-dren's homes and it was very exciting.ons included Ella Browning (Bettystown), Callan Kilduff (Stamullen), Sophie Sher-lock (Mornington), Riahannon Fitzgerald (Laytown), Amy Brennan (Mornington), Eric Kilduff (Stamullen) & Sidas Bagavi-cius (Grange Rath). Jacinta wants to thank all the supportive parents and dancers and the wonderful Instructors- Shauna Browning, Gemma Byrne, Jamie Boylan, Niamh Mullar-key, Onai Tafuma, Sean Mullarkey, Amy Brennan, Tomi Akingba and Annmarie Mullarkey.Classes are back in mid January and all are welcome! It has been an incredible year for the lo-cal Fit Kids/Fit Teens Dance School and they finished off 2016 by scooping all the top awards at 'Irish Hip Hop Idol 2016' at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. A team of international Judges flew in for the event including Turbo and Tashan from Sky's 'Got To Dance'.
