His grá for Irish, for nature, and for Gaelic games were highlighted, along with his ability to draw out the very best from his pupils.Representatives of the entire school com-munity gathered at the school for the spe-cial celebration. The highlight of the day for the pupils was the arrival of two ice-cream vans, as Mr. O’Conghaile had or-dered an ice-cream for each of the boys. You can see more pictures and video clips December 2017 The Meath Coaster9of the celebration on www.donacarney-school.ieWe Love Our New Courtyard! Thanks to Donacarney Parents’ Council, the boys in Bunscoil Buachaillí Réalt na Mara, have transformed their courtyard! The seating comes in two forms. First there’s a marble bench. This was ordered specially for the former chaplain of the school Fr. Willie Cleary who sadly passed away in the summer of 2015.Then there are brightly coloured benches and seating made out of recycled plas-tic. The material is very sturdy and has proven itself to be weather proof and even Ophelia proof! The boys of fourth and fifth classes gath-ered to celebrate the blessing of Fr. Wil-lie’s bench and to show appreciation to the Parents’ Association for their wonder-ful gift. A special prayer service was con-ducted by Fr. Noel Weir. He was joined by representatives of the Parents’ Associa-tion, former principal, Mr O`Conghaile, incoming principal Ms Burke and class teachers, Mr. Duffy and Mr. Ryan. The newly transformed courtyard can now be used for a variety of purposes, along with being a beautiful place to celebrate in prayer and song.
